How to Install a Capsule Home in 3 Days: A Step-by-Step Guide
A capsule home can go from flat pad to hosted guest in 72 hours. Here's the exact sequence our crews follow on every deployment — and your pre-site checklist to make it painless.
The number one reason operators choose capsule homes is speed. But "3-day install" isn't magic — it's preparation. Get the pre-site work right and the on-site window is almost boring. Here's how we do it.
Your Pre-Site Checklist (Weeks Before)
- Confirm access: a flat, firm path for the delivery truck and crane — no soft ground or low branches
- Mark utilities: know exactly where water, power and drainage meet the pod footprint
- Order permits early: even movable units may need a placement or crane permit locally
- Prep the pad: compacted gravel or concrete footings, dead level within 10 mm
Day 1 — Delivery & Placement
- 40HQ container arrives; pods are uncrated and inspected against the factory checklist.
- Mobile crane lifts each unit onto its pre-leveled pads. A 4-person crew guides and chocks.
- Units are roughly aligned; steel legs secured to footings with anchor bolts.
Day 2 — Connect & Test
- Utility runs connected: water, main power, and sewage or cassette system.
- Smart-home system powered on; climate, lighting and locks paired and tested.
- Decks, railings and exterior lighting attached; level re-checked.
Day 3 — Stage & Open
- Interior staging: beds made, amenities placed, welcome kit on the counter.
- Photography pass for your listings — golden hour if the site allows.
- First booking goes live the same evening. Guests can arrive within 24 hours.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Soft ground: a crane on mud is a no-go — reinforce access first
- Utility surprise: buried lines you forgot will stop Day 2 cold
- Rushing the pad: an out-of-level base causes door and seal issues for years
"The install was faster than the fence we put up the same week. Three days and we were taking bookings."
When to Use a Pro Crew vs. DIY
Placement and crane work should always be certified professionals — the risk isn't worth it. But site prep, utility runs and staging are very doable for a capable local contractor, which is how many of our dealers keep install costs down for their own customers.
"Three pods installed in three days, fully furnished. The build quality genuinely feels like a spacecraft."
